Why do I get the feeling that I heard this all before?
Thanks so much for the info, it's realy appreciated.
ask, and ye shall receive.. i will herewith post my notes from the km06 elders school i recently attended.
i will post this in 6 parts, to give people a chance to read smaller chunks and comment on them.. a couple of introductory notes: i wrote an awful lot of stuff, and will not post everything.
for each talk, i will post 3 sections: (1) general synopsis, (2) personal thoughts & observations, (3) particularly egregious quotations.. the primary speakers, who delivered more than 1/2 of the talks, were a circuit overseer and a guest from brooklyn bethel.. to protect anonymity, we will refer to the sadly inane circuit overseer as brother sico.. and the old-timer lifelong brother from bethel, completely out of touch, as brother bethel-coot.. one more introductory comment: it seems the main points the society wanted to send to elders were:.

this was basically my second year out of the organization - we mark our leaving january 2004. i came across this site and began posting here one year ago today.
[edited to say this week not today].
i have found many here to be truly a blessing from god - no matter your individual views of him.
Congratulations from down under, always enjoy your posts so keep them coming.
my wife and i started fading about 2 1/2 years ago, but for different reasons.
she had noticed the lack of love and justice in the congregations, even experienced some firsthand and the abusive conduct of elders against the r&f.
on the other side, i was starting my research on the wt and had pretty much decided i didn't want any part in the borg.
Isn't it great to feel like a normal person!!
Congratulations.
.
we had maybe four when i was about 10-14 after my parents split up, but i always felt guilty.. this will be my first one where i have no reservations...how about you?.

We will be having a second "real" Christmas this year. Last years was a bit low key but this year the Christmas Tree will be setup in the main living area of the house, last year we hid it from the relatives. The kids are so excited they talk about it everyday.
.
a couple of points from the u.s. branch november 2005 km.. in the u.s. there is a federal law (hipaa) protecting a patient's privacy.
the km announces what a publisher must do when admitted to a hospital, if he/she wants to receive elders visits.. a question box discussing donations made to the worldwide work rather than specific disaster relief.. see the attachments.. .
Re; Disaster Relief Donations.
This article made my blood boil, I couldn't believe what I was reading, have they no shame????
They wish to remain unaccountable for all there actions. They will go to any length to ensure that no government authority comes sniffing around asking questions about where all the money is going.
why not the catholic church or others religions?
i dont understand that how a religion that douesn't go to war, don't buy guns, they preach for free they dont get paid, there not rasist, they love there neighbors they treat others well, they dont bother you if you dont want them to pass by your house they wont.
why so much hate, if they go strictly by what the bible says.
toer5777, It's good to see that you have taken the first step to becoming a free thinker by joining us on this forum. If you stick around you will learn the "REAL TRUTH ABOUT THE TRUTH".
As for being critical of JW'S, it's more about exposing the organisation for what it is, manipulative and controlling, resulting in so many peoples lives been ruined.
Honestly, you must have your head in the sand if you truly believe that the WTS never criticizes any other person or organisation.
About four weeks ago one of my relatives had the announcement made that he is "no longer one of Jehovah's witnesses". From what I'm hearing the shunning began immediately. In fact his friends had a get together with him the night before the announcement as a final farewell.
atypical you stated are they are expecting everybody to draw ;a specific ;conclusion, from something that wasn't exactly announced, and then enforce the punishment. - YOU BET THEY DO.
a friend told me that during the watchtower study, the po commented that, "at the district convention this year, the district overseer said that.
the reason they had the drama on timothy, and the dangers of his going on to further his education, was that parents and children today have .
the wrong views on full-time service and higher education.
Education is a threat to there thought controlling organization. University teaches people how to think for themselves and not to accept things at face value.
My wife attended uni while we were still in the borg and boy was she harassed by fellow j dubs, including the elders. An interesting fact was that in one of her essays she referenced some information from the Awake. However, the uni wouldn't accept the information in the essay because the Awake didn't reference where they got there information from. This made us curious and the more we looked at there publications it opened our eyes. We started to realise that much of the information they had being feeding us all those years was speculation, not factual or taken out of context. Yes we had been taken for a ride and deceived.
Yes education threatens there existence, therefore they will do all within there power to stop young ones receiving a higher education.
i was very stressed when i was an active jw.
i hated going to meetings, knocking at doors, preparing meetings and so on.. i hated talking in front of a group.
there was too much to read and to prepare, and never felt like i was good enough.. last night i took a walk and passed in front of the book study where i was just a few months ago.
You bet it did, hence my alias "Stress Free".
i was brought up a jw mother pioneer father elder, and sister pioneer.
i left 5 years ago.
i recently had to go to my sisters wedding in the old kingdom hall!!.
Yes, around 18 months ago we were invited to my nieces wedding, this was about 3 months after we had left the borg. Unfortunately for them, they had sent us the invitation before they realised that we were leaving. We knew in advance how they would treat us but we had nothing to lose and wanted to see how they would all react.
Of course we were shunned and although it didn't surprise us, it still made us feel hurt and angry. At the reception centre our relatives were all sitting at the front three tables, however my wife and I were conveniently placed at a table at the back of the building with people we had never meet in our life.
But hey you get over it and just move on with life.
